A child drowned in a pond of Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur on Monday.
The dead was Mahin, 6, son of Mijanur Rahman, a resident of Hariharpur village under Daudpur union.
Local UP member Sajedur Rahman Sujan said, Mahin was playing near a pond in the morning. At one stage, he fell into the pond.
Later, family members rescued him from the water and took to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
