Child dies while playing in dormitory

A child named Maisa (6) died at Peer Bari Shah’s dormitory atDeotan area under Taljanga union at Tarail upazila in Kishoreganj on Friday (October 23).

Maisa is the daughter of Manik Miah, a devotee of Peer Bari Shah. Manik Miah's house is in Maugaon village of Rauti union of Tarail upazila.

According to the police and the locals, Peer’s disciple Lutfar Rahman had been in charge of building a dormitory in front of the Dargah of the late Peer Bari Shah for a long time. This dormitory was inhabited by disciples from different areas. Manik Mia, a devotee of Bari Shah, often came to Peer’s dormitory with his wife and two children.

Dormitory authorities and Manik Mia, said that two children, including Maisa were playing in an empty room inside the dormitory. Maisa went to dress up, tied a scarf to the window and wrapped one side of it around her neck. At that time, she 

slipped and fell from the post and got stuck in the throat. Upon receiving the news, the child's parents took her to Tarail Upazila Health Complex and the doctor declared her dead.

Tarail Police Station OC Md. Mojibur Rahman said police recovered the child's body and sent it to the morgue of Kishoreganj 250-bed General hospital for autopsy. Initially, she was declared dead on the scene.

However, the police are trying to find out the real cause of the child's death. The exact cause of death of the child will be known after the autopsy.
