Child abducted, killed in Gazipur

A child was abducted and killed after demanding ransom. Police recovered the packed body of the child Fahim on Tuesday evening, the day after he was abducted in Gazipur. He is the son of Kamrul Islam of Shurmukhya village under Atpara police station in Netrokona district.

Basan Police Station O C Rafiqul Islam and the victim's family said Kamrul Islam lives with his family in a rented house in Naljani Madhyapara area of Gazipur City Corporation. Kamrul and his wife work in a local garment factory. 

Their 7-year-old disabled child (one arm short) is Fahim, a second-grade student at the local Chandana KG Institute School. On Monday, as usual, Kamrul and his wife went to Garments, leaving their baby Fahim at home. During the lunch break, the couple came home and kept looking for Fahim. At night, unidentified persons threatened to kill Fahim on his mobile phone, demanding a ransom of Rs 50,000.

He added that the child's father paid Rs 2,000 through Bikash's mobile phone to get the child back in response to the kidnappers' threat. At one stage, his father informed the police that he could not find his son. 

Meanwhile, Shishu Fahim was not found even after searching in different places throughout the night. At one stage of the search, the next day (Tuesday) evening, the locals found the body of a child in a plastic bag in a dirt bush on an abandoned land next to the house. Upon receiving the news,  the police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The baby was initially thought to have been strangled to death. Legal action is being taken in this case. No one could be arrested in the incident. However, based on the information received, it will be possible to arrest those involved in this incident soon.
