Celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Chhayanaut has organized a three-day Nazrul Utsav starting from yesterday at their auditorium. The festival will run through May 24, 25, and 26, showcasing a variety of performances to honour the legacy of the beloved poet.
The event features solo and group songs, dances, readings, and poetry recitations. Besides Chhayanaut's own artists, other performers will also participate, making the celebration more vibrant and inclusive.
The festival's opening ceremony took place today at 6 pm. On the second and third days, the program will begin at 7 pm. Each day promises a unique blend of performances, reflecting Nazrul’s diverse contributions to Bangla literature and music.
A special highlight of the festival will be the unveiling of Chhayanaut’s new publication, "Nazrul Sangeet: Tothyo, Bhab O Shurashandhan", on the final day. This book explores the themes, melodies, and details of 50 Nazrul songs. The closing event will also include various artistic performances, continuing the celebration of Nazrul’s work.
In addition to Chhayanaut’s festival, many organizations in the capital have planned events to mark Nazrul’s birthday. The Bengal Foundation has organized a two-day celebration, while the Ministry of Culture, Nazrul Institute, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, and other cultural and social institutions are also hosting events.
Nazrul’s birth anniversary brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate his enduring impact on Bangla culture. The Nazrul Utsav at Chhayanaut is a testament to his lasting influence and the love and respect he commands among the people.
