The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a 'Night School' to raise awareness among security guards of homes and offices in the city. Night watchmen are taking part in these 'schools' in different police station areas of the city every night.

This night school starts after 10 pm every night. The guards are being given the number of the officer-in-charge (OC) of the concerned police station and the number of the duty officer.

In addition, they are also being told how to protect themselves in special situations and give information about the criminal to the police.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) officials hope that they can play an important role in maintaining law and order if they can alert a large number of security guards in Chattogram city.

The first work on the concept of 'night school' started at the city's Double Mooring police station on August 4. On the same day, classes were held at six places of Double Mooring Police Station from 8 pm to 11 pm. Later it was decided to spread the idea to the remaining 15 police stations.

As the initiative of CMP South Division, Classes were organized under this school at Andarkilla corner of Kotwali police station on August 6. The class is attended by security guards in charge of the security of various important installations in the vicinity of the area.

This activity will gradually spread to all the police stations of CMP - this is what the city police authorities are saying. Along with the law enforcement agencies, night watchmen are playing a responsible role in the security of life and property of the people of the city. Their lack of awareness of responsibility plays an effective role in protecting the lives and property of the people in many cases. Considering the issue, this initiative has been taken under the direction of CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir. When connected, Saleh Mohammad Tanvir, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner, said, ``we have arranged this training to make the security guards aware. Those who are in charge of security in various private organizations and markets are cooperating with us.

``If they work efficiently and have a close contact with the police, then the security work can be done more efficiently``-he added.
