Managing Director of Chattogram Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) Commodore Syed Misbah Uddin Ahmed said that the company wants to play a supporting role in the implementation of the plan of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) in the development of Chattogram.
Chattogram City Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury informed a meeting about the activities and future work plans of CDDL at CCC office on Sunday. The Mayor wants to know what role the Dry Dock can play in the implementation of the Tk 2500 crore project given by the Prime Minister for the development of Chattogram.
Chattogram Drydock Managing Director Commodore Syed Misbah Uddin Ahmed said that the Dry Dock authority is currently operating 24-hour shifts to modernize and popularize the maritime transport system of Chattogram city. Dry Dock can play an important role in the construction of waterways in CCC as well as its conservation, expansion and enhancement of citizens' convenience in the use of waterways.
Chattogram Dry Dock can provide construction and technical support for the construction of 36 foot over bridges undertaken by the Mayor of Chattogram for the benefit of the pedestrians of Chattogram. He also said that the institution is contributing to the huge foreign exchange earnings of the country through the export of skilled manpower with training.
The meeting was attended by Panel Mayor Mohammad Gias Uddin, Councilor Saleh Ahmed Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Md Shafiqul Islam, Md Shahed Iqbal Babu, Reserved Women Councillor Rumki Sengupta, Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Private Secretary to the Mayor and Chief Cleaning Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, Public Relations and Protocol Officer Aziz Ahmad. Captain Hanif Mahmud, Sub Lieutenant Rumen Majumdar were present on behalf of Chattogram Dry Dock.
