Chatmohar markets come under CCTV surveillance

Published : 16 Jun 2021 08:04 PM

Pabna Police installed CCTV cameras at the markets in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Wednesday to keep the law and order situation under control and identify the culprits in a short time.

Pabna Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahibul Islam Khan inaugurated the programme after installing CCTV cameras in the railway market area of Mulgram Union of the upazila. Later, he visited Haripur Bazar of the upazila and inaugurated the CCTV camera.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, SP Mahibul Islam said the effectiveness of CCTV cameras in testing the benefits of information technology in crime control has been tested. The district police have taken initiative to install CCTV cameras in markets to motivate the local traders and ensure their safety. It also includes spontaneous cooperation from everyone. If the important public places of each upazila in the district are brought under CCTV cameras, the criminal activities in these crowded markets will be reduced a lot. Chatmohar police OC Aminul Islam said that the two big markets of Chatmohar upazila, Railway Bazaar and Haripur Bazar, were brought under CCTV cameras on the instructions of the Pabna SP. This will make the shopkeepers of these markets and the traders, buyers and sellers who come to the market from outside areas feel safe. As a result of the installation of CCTV cameras, the entire market will be under the surveillance of the law enforcement agencies.

As a result, members of the law enforcement agencies will be able to reach there in time in case of any incident. Many times the real culprits get away with it due to lack of proper evidence. Now the law enforcement agencies do not have to rush to identify the real culprit. He also said that these two markets will be controlled with 16 cameras along with the railway market and 12 cameras in Haripur market will be installed.

Additional Police Super SajibShahrin, Chatmohar OC Aminul Islam, Chatmohar Press Club president Rakibur Rahman and others spoke at the programme.
