Channel I emerged as the champions of the Kool BSJA Media Cup football tournament defeating Jamuna Television on Thursday.
Organised by the Bangladesh Sports Journalist Association (BSJA), in the keenly contested final between two electronic media houses, Channel I won the title outplaying Jamuna TV by a solitary goal at the artificial turf of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). Shaon Ahmed struck the all-important goal of the final and later on adjudged man of the final.
Champions Channel I received Taka 30,000 when the runners up Jamuna TV awarded with Taka 15,000 as prize money.
Havier Cabrera, head coach of the Bangladesh national football team and Tehsina Khanon, Marketing Manager of the Square Toiletries handed over prizes and trophies among the winners as the chief and special guests respectively when Anisur Rahman, general secretary of the BSJA was present in the presentation ceremony.
Meanwhile, on the way to the final, Channel I defeated Boishakhi TV in a tie-breaker affairs after the stipulated time was 1-1 draw when Jamuna TV outplayed Bangla Vision TV by 4-0 in the semifinal.
