Chanchal Chowdhury in Bangabandhu's biopic

A film on the life of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a Bangladesh-India joint venture commemorating his 100th birth anniversary, is in the making.

Shooting will start on January 25 in Mumbai, India. The list of those playing the main characters in the film has already been published. Popular actor Chanchal Chowdhury will play the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's father in the film.

He will be seen in the role of Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman (45-65 years old). Chanchal Chowdhury himself confirmed the matter on Wednesday. Khairul Alam Sabuj will play that role (65-94 years old).

Several artistes, including Chanchal Chowdhury, are going to Mumbai on January 19 to take part in the shooting of the film. The shooting of the first phase of the film will begin there on January 25 and it will last for two and a half months.

The film star Arifin Shuvoo will act in the role of Bangabandhu, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Dighi will respectively act in the role of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's wife Fazilatunnesa Mujib (Renu), while Nusrat Faria will play the role of  young Sheikh Hasina and Jannatul Sumaiya will portray the role of elder Sheikh Hasina. 

Eminent actress Dilara Jaman will play the role of Bangbandhu's mother Sahera Khatun, actor Khairul Alam Sabuj will act as Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, Shahidul Alam Sachchu as Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, Ferdous Ahmed as Tajuddin Ahmed, Tauquir Ahmed as Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Tushar Khan as Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah, Fazlur Rahman Babu as Khandakar Moshtaq Ahmed and Misha Sawdagor as Aiyub Khan, among others.
