Chairman candidate fined for conduct breach in Panchagarh

A chairman candidate named Inshan Ali has been fined in a mobile court for violating the election code of conduct in Tentulia upazila under Panchagarh district. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Wise Executive Magistrate Sohag Chandra Saha handed down the sentence at the Upazila Parishad premises at 1pm on Thursday.

It is learned that the convicted Inshan Ali is an independent candidate for the post of chairman of Sadar Union No. 3 of the upazila and he is the president of the Tentulia upazila branch of the Jatiya Shramik League.

According to the mobile court, the second phase of the election will be held on November 11 in 6 union Parishads of Tentulia upazila. Candidates from the Upazila Returning Officer's Office are already holding street rallies in different areas to collect nomination papers and deposit them. Meanwhile, Inshan Ali, president of Upazila Sramik League, along with a large number of people as an independent candidate for the post of chairman of Sadar Union Parishad No 3 on Thursday afternoon, was fined Tk 10,000 under Rule 31 of the Union Parishad Election Code of Conduct 2018 for violating the code of conduct. 

Meanwhile, a UP member of Devgarh Union was fined Tk 5,000 for violating the election code of conduct on Wednesday afternoon.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Sohag Chandra Saha said a candidate for the post of chairman of the Union Parishad has been fined Tk 10,000 for violating the code of conduct. Such campaigns will continue in the future as well.
