Centre of Excellence for 4IR: Palak

To meet the fourth industrial revolution challenges and exploit the potential the government is going to establish ‘Centre of Excellence on Frontier Technologies’ in different educational institutes in the country. 

These centers will help to prepare young generation, students from now to exploit the potential of the fourth industrial revolution by leveraging research and knowledge on Automatic driving, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), big data, internet of things (IoT), smart city and network.

ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak came up with these observations while inaugurating ‘Second DRMC-ISOTECH Group International Tech Carnival 2020’ as chief guest at Dhaka Residential Model College in the capital on Thursday. 

The state minister said, “To create a technology-rich nation 8000 Sheikh Russell Digital Labs have been established in various educational institutes in the country. More 10000 labs will be established in the next five years. Specialized labs are also being established at different universities”.

Under the ICT Division, the “Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA)” project is also implementing. Through this, the government is providing Tk 10 lakh at the seed stage and Tk one to Tk five crore in the growth stage as venture capital to the country’s entrepreneurs, the state minister added. 

“We have to introduce ourselves as technology-based nation in solving various problems to the world”, he said adding, a center of excellence will also be established at Dhaka Residential College, and urge the student to prepare themselves with knowledge and technology.   College Principal Brigadier General Kazi Shamim Farhad spoke among others.
