Celebrating the 66th Birth Anniversary of Lucky Akhand, the Maestro of Music

All the top musicians of the country congregated this afternoon at Hotel Sonargaon in city to celebrate the 66th Birth Anniversary of the amazing Lucky Akhand, the evergreen genius of Bengali music. A big merriment occurred at the venue as these music-veterans audio-video released the track ‘Se Ganer e pakhi’ by Mehreen, written by Golam Murshed and tuned by Lucky Akhand, that was kept unreleased for last 20 years; remembered and fondled over their memories with ‘Lucky Bhai’, sang songs made by the genius and once again took the pledge to take Bengali music to its next level. 

 State Minister for Cultural Affairs Mr K M Khalid, MP, spoke on the occasion as the Chief Guest and emphasized on ‘promoting Lucky Bhai's creations to the wider audience of Bangla music on a global scale'. The Vice Chancellor of the Asian University of Women and the Chairperson of the Annisul HUq Foundation, Dr Rubana Huq could not attend the program due to her illness, as was scheduled earlier, she conveyed her greetings over text message. In lieu, Navidul Huq, co-founder and director of Bongobd.com, trustee of Annisul Huq Foundation and director of Mohammadi Group attended the program as the Special Guest. 

 The honourable guests released the audio and video of the song ‘Se Ganer e Pakhi’ on Mehreen's own YouTube channel. All the artists present came up on the stage. The celebration of the 66th Birth Anniversary of Lucky Akhand, commenced by cutting the birthday cake. Then, Golam Murshed, Mehreen, Foad Naser Babu, and flutist Ustad Azizul Islam, Fahmida Nabi and Dr. Rubaiyat Rahman reminiscied the good old days when everything was greener, when Lucky Bhai was there. 

 The track ‘Se Gaaner e Pakhi’ has been arranged by Rupak, the young talent in country’s music. Produced by Limelight Studios the impeccable video of the song was directed by Tajwar Yakin and SK Naeem. Colour grading of the excellent video is done by Touhidur Rahman Rubel. Nazifa Ayat and Tasnuva played their part as models in the video as mother and daughter, incidentally, who are mother and daughter in their real life too. 

 On a large screen behind-the-scenes footage of the song's video, as well as video footage of Lucky Akhand's memoirs was shown. The audience became a bit emotional looking at those footage of the happy and smiling days with late Meyor Annisul Huq and Lucky Bhai. Later, Fahmida Nabi in a short speech called upon the trustees to rekindle the activities of the Shilpir Pashe Foundation. Special guest Navidul Haque thanked the artists and said that he would be keen to bring dynamism in the activities of the foundation. He also called upon the government to come forward with effective assistance for the welfare of the artists.

 At the end hour, the celebrity artists and musicians presented a captivating jamming session for about 40 minutes comprising a dozen of songs of Lucky Akhand. Present among the stars among others were Fahmida Nabi, Maksudul Haque, Hamin Ahmed, Foad Naser Babu, Bappa Majumder, Sharmin Lucky, Labu Rahman, Sheikh Shahed Ali, Rumon of Parthib and Sumonfrom Pentagon, Nipo, Tanvir Alam Sajib, Enamul Karim Nirjhar, Tarun Munshi and Nafiz Kamal. 

In association with Annisul Huq Foundation and Shilpir Pashe Foundation, the event devised by by Go-Girl and funded by the Fans of Lucky Akhand was supported by Bengal Plastics, Swapna, Home Tex, Perview Genesis, Yami Cake and RadioToday, while the PR jobs were done by Cool Exposure.
