Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has demolished the building built on the site of a graveyard in Agrabad area of Chattogram.
CDA Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmina Afroz Chowdhury conducted an operation to demolish the building in front of CDA Karnaphuli Market on Tuesday morning.
Local resident said that when they were asked to take care of the cemetery, they built the building and occupied the place. We have been demanding the administration for a long time to demolish this illegal building. CDA Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmina Afroz Chowdhury said that the locals have been complaining about the construction of buildings on the graveyard for a long time.
After ACC's public hearing, I gave one week's notice to the owner of the building after the legal process. But as they did not move from there, we are conducting operations to demolish the building today after serving a few notices.
Its mentioned that the occupants of the high-rise buildings to the cemetery in Chaumuhani of Agrabad area of Chattogram have forced shops in front of the cemetery and the only way to enter the cemetery and built buildings on many graves of the cemetery.
