CDA celebrates Sheikh Russel Day

"Sheikh Russel Day" was celebrated by the Chittagong Development Authority with the theme "Sheikh Russel is a symbol of serenity, brave, lively and fearless".

 On Tuesday afternoon, CDA Chairman M Zahirul Alam Dobhash laid a wreath on Sheikh Russell's portrait with the assembled officials.  CDA Secretary Muhammad Anwar Pasha presided over the meeting.

  Mehdibagh CDA Jame Masjid front Imam Maulana Md. Mamunur Rashid recited from Quran and prayed.  A documentary on Sheikh Russell was screened in the meeting. Under the supervision of Engineer Md. Mustafa Jamal, Chattogram City Corporation Reserved Women's Constituency Councillor Jasmine Parveen, Deputy Chief City Planner Abu Isa Anchari, CDA employee Md. Jabed delivered speeches on the occasion of Sheikh Russell's birthday.   CDA Chairman M Zahirul Dubash said, when Bangabandhu's family came to Chattogram in 1979, they met Russel for the first time when they came to their house with little Russel.  They were not seen again until the August 15 murder.  Baby Russel did not get close to his father, so the mother had everything for baby Russel.  The ruthlessness of the killer in the brutal murder, despite the child Russel's plea "I will go to my mother", the killers pierced him with bullets.  He prayed for the soul of the father of the nation and all the family members who were killed in the August 15 massacre. CDA Secretary Muhammad Anwar Pasha said, in the event organized on the occasion of the birthday of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali father of a thousand years, he thanked the organizers for laying wreaths and organizing a cake for children on the occasion of his birthday.

  He said, Sheikh Russell is the image of developing child of Bengal.  Sheikh Russel's memory can be kept alive by creating a red-green Bangladesh, a society free from discrimination and exploitation, ensuring children's rights, housing for children. 

 He expressed the hope of building a child friendly country and announced the end of the meeting.
