Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) said that they are keeping a close eye on the recent development in the country to make a way out to resume the remaining part of the Dhaka Premier League, reports agencies.

The general holiday announced by the government due to the deadly coronavirus is valid until 5 May. Researchers at the Data-Driven Innovation Lab of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in Singapore has recently said that 97 per cent of the coronavirus may fall from Bangladesh within May.

This information is showing the light of hope to everyone. The country is already moving, albeit in a small extent. Some garments have opened in Narayanganj-Gazipur including in the capital Dhaka. The hotels will be open for sale of Iftar items till 4 pm.

The country's cricket is also keeping an eye on the overall situation. Especially, The BCB Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) is more active in monitoring the situation of the coronavirus.

DPL has been suspended indefinitely due to the outbreak of corona. CCDM is optimistic after seeing the small steps taken in the country in the last few days.

If the general holiday does not increase after May 5, the CCDM will be in the process of resuming the Premier League if they see significant improvement of the coronavirus situation. For this, the governing body of the league will first hold a meeting with the clubs. If everything goes well, then the league can be played before or after Eid.

CCDM member secretary Ali Hossain told Daily Sun that they are monitoring the coronavirus situation. "We are monitoring how much the situation is getting better. How good the situation is. Now something has just started from yesterday. Let's see and wait a little longer," Ali Hossain said that.

Ali Hossain said that the first step in starting the Premier League is to talk to the clubs after the outbreak of coronavirus.

"Of course we will sit down. Now the situation is that we have to sit with all the clubs first.  To know what is the situation of the clubs as the players are also not in the practice. So, knowing how much prepared the clubs are, as they had to bring back the players into the tent. If the situation improves that much then we will sit with them. Otherwise not," He added

The bread and butter of the country's most cricketers is the premier league that started on March 15 and postponed after one round.

Most of the cricketers did not get paid for it. If they get to play two or one round before Eid, they can get some remuneration and this matter is also under the consideration of CCDM.

CCDM will try to start the league before the Eid if everything situation comes under control otherwise they will start the league right after Eid.

Cricketers are also eager to play the league as they feel that they can earn some money if league is resumed as some of them are yet to receive any payment from the clubs.

"We want to play. If I don't play, I won't get money. Some families just depend on it,’’ said Maishukur Rahman, who has joined Brothers Union this time adding that if the situation improves significantly, then the cricketers even wants to play without spectators following the hygiene rules.

"If there is a little improvement, then the BCB can start the league if they want to and that can be after a month or so later. If everyone follows the rules of hygiene, then it seems that the game is possible," added Maishukur.
