CCC working to bring sufferings of Ctg people to an end

Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin has said that they are helpless over cutting road by CWASA. Chittagong WASA has announced that the roads will be cut  till 2021. The city dwellers are suffering due to cutting of roads across the city. The City Corporation is working to bring the suffering to an end, he added.

The Mayor made the remarks at a press conference at KB Abdus Chattar auditorium of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Education, Health, Family Planning and Healthcare Standing Committee of the CCC organized the press conference.

The mayor said, "Literature, culture and sports are encouraged in the textbooks along with our educational institutions. I would say with challenge, the quality of education of CCC educational institutions are better than ever. In the days ahead, the quality will increase. I have taken initiative to free the educational institutions. I am hiring a teacher.’’

"The education in Chattogram has grown to 90 since I took office," he said. Without these institutions, the children of the poorest of the city would be skeptical about the possibility of getting education. When I took office, the CCC had to subsidize Tk 43 crore. Due to various plans, I have been able to minimize it. Now subsidy is 36 crores.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Samsuddoha, Standing Committee President Nazmul Haque Duke, Councilor Hassan Murad Biplob, Gias Uddin, Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, Abul Hashem, the personal secretary of the mayor, were also present at the press conference.

Chief Education Officer Suman Barua said that the CCC operates in 48 secondary schools, 23 colleges, 1 university, 1 computer institute, 5 computer campuses. There are 7 kindergartens, 2 elementary schools, 350 Forkanya madrasa, 9 mosques, 4 Sanskrit tolls, 1 teacher training center, 1 mass education center, 1 theater institute and 1 public library.

The Department of Education Engineering is financing new and upscale buildings and financing works in 20, repair works in eight. Construction of new buildings is underway in JICA financing. With the CCC's own financing, 10 new buildings have been built, and work is underway on 3.

Among the educational institutes run by CCC, the college is studying 20,330 people, 37,700 in secondary, 4,950 in primary and KG. There are 1,087 permanent and 641 temporary teachers
