CCC’s 100 day-crush prog to eliminate mosquito begins

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) mayor and freedom fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the 100-day mosquito eradication program to control mosquito-borne diseases including dengue and chikungunya.

CCC Mayor inaugurated the program in front of Chattogram Nursing College on Thursday.  He said, after taking charge as mayor, I formed a research team consisting of teachers of Chattogram University (CU). Based on their scientific advice, the Air Force has stockpiled mosquito repellents for the next five months.  We will conduct 100 days long crush program in 41 wards with 57 hotspots.

 CCC Cleanliness Department along with Urban Volunteers and Red Crescent staff will work on the A CRUSH programme.  Many people do roof gardens but do not clean the water accumulated in different places including flower tubs and even if the workers go they do not let them clean.  To prevent this situation, punitive action will be taken by buying drones and monitoring the roof

 After the inauguration, the mayor handed over awareness leaflets to the common people.

 Brigadier Shamim Ehsan, Director of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said in the event that all the patients who died of dengue this year came to the hospital to be admitted at the last stage.  Hospitalization at an early stage of illness might have saved them.  Therefore, a call to the people, if you have symptoms of dengue, get admitted to the government hospital, get treatment, stay healthy.

 Principal of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Dr. Sahena Akhter said, everyone should clean the places where mosquitoes breed around the house.

 CCC Mayor's Private Secretary and Chief Cleaning Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem conducted the ceremony.
