Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the month-long tree plantation programme on the occasion of the month of mourning.
The CCC Mayor inaugurated the programme at Laldighi Park in the port city on Tuesday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that they have taken a plan to plant 20,000 trees in August through the CCC Urban Planning Department to commemorate the month of mourning,
The trees will reach the citizens through the councilors of each ward. Forests, fruits and medicinal plants will be available free of cost to the townspeople. When the trees grow, they will bear fruit, provide shadeand remind the afforestation tree of the Bengali nation Bangabandhu, said the Mayor.
Andarkilla Ward Councillor Zahar Lal Hazari, Panel Mayor Gias Uddin, Councilor Haji Nurul Haque, Hasan Murad Biplab, Shahed Iqbal Babu, Abdus Salam Masum, Pulak Khastagir, Rumki Sengupta, Deputy Secretary Ashek Rasul Tipu, Urban Planner Abdullah Al Omar and Slum Development Officer Mainul Hossain Ali Chowdhurywere were also present in the programme.
