Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) inaugurated GIS-based online microplanning and E-Tracker for smart immunization in Chattogram to transform the EPI operation into digital platform, identify the children under one year of age and boost immunization coverage more perfectly.
CCC Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the programme in cooperation with UNICEF Bangladesh at a city hotel on Monday. He spoke as a chief guest at the event.
The mayor said the including advanced technology such as immunization E-Tracker into the immunization operation in Bangladesh is a contemporary step. In the meantime, the ‘Vaccine Hero’ recognition brought success to the immunization operation. The main objective of starting E-Tracker is to identify the floating and deprived children of the society. We want to ensure 100 percent immunization, he added.
The operation of EPI E-Tracker through ‘SMART HEALTH BD’ app has been continuing since January 1, 2024 to strengthen the EPI operation of Chittagong City Corporation.
Besides, ‘GIS-Based Online Microplanning & Reporting’ was involved with the EPI operation from April 20 this year. A total of 13,000 children of Chittagong city were registered through ‘SMART HEALTH BD’ app. The formal inauguration was held on Monday.
Chief Executive Officer of CCC Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam presided over the programme. Maya Vandenent, Chief of Health, UNICEF Bangladesh, spoke as the special guest at the programme. Besides, CCC and UNICEF Bangladesh officials were also present there.
