CCC mayor warns of revocation of contractors’ license

Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin has warned the contractors to cancel their licenses if the work is not completed within the stipulated time and if the quality of work is substandard and faulty.

He also instructed the concerned engineers to be responsible against the tendency of slowing down the work under any circumstances and against the tendency to complete the work by patchwork.

Mayor issued the warning and instructions at a meeting of CCC engineers and contractors at the conference room of the CCC's new office in the city's Tiger Pass on Thursday.

He said some contractors were resorting to procrastination by violating contract times. As a result, the suffering of the people is increasing and the government and city corporations are being questioned.

Despite my repeated warnings, some contractors are showing extreme indifference and making all sorts of unreasonable excuses. I have the mentality to accept if there is a logical reason. But the tendency to suspend work and explain substandard work by unreasonable delays will not be tolerated.

Mayor strongly instructed that work on the city's Port Connecting Road be completed by next November and those work on the remaining unfinished roads in the city, including Drain, Midland to be completed quickly.

He made it clear that any kind of excuse-objection would not be accepted and those concerned would have to face punishment.
