Newly elected Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury exchanged greetings with the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner.
When the police went to the commissioner's office on Saturday morning, Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir greeted them with flowers.
Rezaul Karim said that, “Police had performed their duty with sincerity in the election. For this, I am grateful to all the members of the law enforcement agencies including the police. In the future, Chittagong City Corporation will work in coordination with the police to make Chittagong a modern Chittagong”.
CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir also assured the mayor of his support.
Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police SM Mostaq Ahmed Khan, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Shyamal Kumar Nath and Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mehedi Hasan were present during the meeting.
Earlier, Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said the polls were held in a "free and fair environment."
