Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the anti-mosquito crash program by sprinkling medicine in front of the park of Nasirabad residential area of the city.
CCC Mayor said that the first step under integrated mosquito control management is environmental management. Everyone should be aware of the places around where Aedes mosquitoes gather, so that Aedes mosquitoes cannot gather. Due to weather conditions, mosquito infestation has increased in the city. This crash program will run for 7 days in 41 wards of the city.
He said this while inaugurating the anti-mosquito crash program by sprinkling medicine in front of Nasirabad residential area park on Tuesday morning.
He emphasized on the awareness of the city dwellers in controlling the Aedes mosquito, the carrier of dengue disease, and said that the Aedes mosquito accumulates in the clear water of the house, water cannot be stored. It has been observed that most of the dengue fever victims belong to the upper or upper middle class. Because Aedes mosquitoes live in drains, these mosquitoes are different from the sewer-born mosquitoes. When it rains, this mosquito spreads easily in the accumulated water. He said, the city corporation can kill mosquitoes only outside the house, so we have to keep our house and yard clean. The mayor also said that the country is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the corona epidemic. Since we are fighting invisible organisms, it is possible to kill the visible Aedes mosquito that carries dengue. If necessary, a more stringent position will be taken. The mayor warned that the person responsible for finding the source of AIDS will not be exempted from prison terms.

CCC mayor also said that every ward of the city will clean the bushes and spray the medicine where mosquitoes breed in the drains. By making good use of the quantity of insecticides we have available, adulticides are used to kill adult mosquitoes and larvicides are sprayed to kill mosquito larvae (eggs). He appealed to the citizens to ensure that water does not accumulate in roof gardens, AC, fridges, flower tops, tin shells, abandoned car tires, plastic bottles, broken buckets for more than three days.
He said, to prevent mosquitoes from breeding all mosquito-borne diseases including Dengue, Chikungunya, along with this special cleaning program, the mosquito killing program will continue. Apart from this, arrangements have been made for distribution of 1 lakh leaflets and miking in the city through Red Crescent and Urban Volunteers to create public awareness and seek everyone's cooperation.
