Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has taken preparations to take 48 educational institutions of Chattogram city as shelter centers during the natural calamity due to continuous rain, waterlogging and landslide. A total of 6,000 packets of food have been prepared for distribution among the people at the shelter center and the affected people.
All holidays, including weekly off, of the officials and staff of CCC have been cancelled for the disaster.
An emergency control room has been started at the electricity department of CCC at Dampara to avert the damage of the lives and goods of the people. This control room will work for the service of the people all the time until the calamity ends. The number of the control room is 023333630739.
CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam presided over an emergency meeting at the conference room of CCC on Thursday where CCC Administrator Md Tofayel Islam formed quick response team and provided several guidelines to protect people’s lives and goods from downpour, waterlogging and landslide.
Seven quick response teams have been formed at the risky wards following the instruction of the administrator. These seven teams will work for taking people of the risky area to the shelter centre quickly and give the relief goods, necessary food and healthcare.
Besides, the staff of CCC with the help of Red Crescent on Thursday afternoon started using loudspeaker to shift the people of the risky areas to safer place.
