Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has announced a proposed budget of Tk 1,981.52 crore for 2024-25 fiscal year. This time, the CCC has set a target of earning Tk 1,026.45 crore from its own sources to implement the proposed budget.
CCC Mayor Freedom Fighter Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced the budget at Nandankanan Theatre Institute in the city on Thursday afternoon. Apart from the budget for the new fiscal year, the mayor also presented the revised budget of Tk 1,661 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24. A budget of Tk 1,887 crore was announced in that financial year. In the history of CCC, the budget implementation has been a record 88 percent. During the budget announcement, Mayor Rezaul Karim outlined a set of plans to make Chittagong a modern and smart city. In light of the present and the future, he expects to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the city dwellers.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of City Corporation Mohammad Ashraful Amin presided over the budget session. Councillor Md Ismail, also chairman of the standing committee on finance and establishment, presented the budget statement in the budget session. Panel mayor Afroza Kalam, chief accountant Humayun Kabir, ward councillors, departmental heads and officials, among others, were present at the time.
