A robbery committed by putting barricade with trees on the road at village Sarabaria area in sadar upazila of Chuadanga district on June 30 around 9 pm. About Tk 50,00,000 in cash and gold ornaments was looted.
According to police and local sources, 15-20 members of the gang robbed passengers and pedestrians with local weapons like ramda, knives and Chinese axes. The victims were confined using ropes during robbing of cash and gold ornaments. At least 20 vehicles were stopped at that time.
According to the victims, of the total, Tk 9 lakh was looted from Abdul Wahed Miah, a prominent businessman of Andulbaria Bazar, tk. 33,50,000 from other passengers of 23 vehicles, and Mithun, Rony, Raju and Milon of Jhenaidah municipal area came in a private car, robbers
intercepted and looted 7,50,000 cash taka and gold ornaments.
Chuadanga Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Tareq and Darshana Police Station Officer-in-Charge Lutful Kabir visited the spot.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Abu Tareq said police investigation is going on. Some teams of police are already working to arrest the robbers. The robbers will be arrested soon and brought under the law.
