Case filed against Jamaat activists in Sylhet Cyber Tribunal

A case has been filed Jamaat activists including former students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, under the Digital Security Act in Sylhet's cyber tribunal court.

On Friday (March 1st), Sylhet district bar senior lawyer Advocate Mamunur Rashid Chowdhury  confirmed this. 

The accused in the case are student jamaat activist Mahfuzur Rahman(son of Abdul Gaffar Khan), Ashraf Chowdhury Shubo (son of Achid Chowdhury), Mohammad Nazmul Islam Babul(son of Mohammad Rafiq Uddin) and an ex-student of SUST named Saifur Rahman Khan (son of Abdul Gaffar Khan).

According to the source of the case, the defendants in the case are extremely radical, disorderly, terrorist, anti-freedom, anti-liberation war and anti-state gangs. 

They edited and distorted the photos of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and uploaded various indecent and vulgar posts on their Facebook IDs and disseminated them. 

RG mentioned that Rahim Ahmad Manna filed this case because he was upset and depressed due to the publication of several anti-liberation war, anti-independence, anti-Bangabandhu and treasonous posts and threats of death and abuse to the Left through social media.

Meanwhile, Cyber Tribunal of Sylhet has ordered the OC of Kotwali police station of SMP to submit the investigation report after taking the case into consideration.

The officer in charge of Kotwali police station of Sylhet named Mohammad Moin Uddin confirmed the case and said that the investigation officer in charge of investigating the case has already submitted a report to the court.
