Case filed against 28 in B’baria

A case has been filed against 28 people, including 12 unknown persons, in connection with the killing of Chhatra League activist Ashraful Rahman Ejaz in the post-election violence in Brahmanbaria.

On Thursday night, the victim's father, Aminur Rahman, filed the murder case with Sadar Model Police Station.

Former VP of Brahmanbaria Government College Jalal Hossain Khoka has been made the main accused. The second accused is Hasan Al Farabi Joy, recently expelled vice-president of District Chhatra League.

Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, said the father of the deceased filed the case and an operation is underway to arrest the accused.

The victim's family claimed that on the news of the victory of Shahdat Hossain Shobhon, the chairman candidate in Sadar Upazila election, his supporters brought out a joyous procession from the Mission School centre. When the procession reached Collegepara area of the town, recently expelled District BCL Vice-President Hasan Al Farabi Joy shot Ejaz in the head following orders of Helal Uddin's supporter Jalal Uddin Khoka.

Later, critically injured Ejaz was taken to Dhaka where he died.

Deceased Ejaz is the son of Amin Mia of Collegepara area. He was a second year honours student of Botany Department at Brahmanbaria Government College.
