Campaign launched to remove illegal structures in Cox’s Bazar

Cox's Bazar Development Authority has launched a campaign to evict unauthorized installations in the city of Cox's Bazar. During this time, the unauthorized installations were bulldozed. The operation was carried out at Tekpara and Ghonarpara in the city from Monday morning to noon under the direction of Cox's Bazar Development Authority Chairman Lt Col (retd) Forkan Ahmed and led by Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Abu Zafar Rashed.

According to the Cox's Bazar Development Authority, multiple unauthorized buildings were erected in the municipal area due to the corona virus. Therefore, according to the Mobile Court Act 2009 and the Building Construction Act 1952, a campaign was conducted against unauthorized installations.

 During the operation, the three-storied-buildings of Faizul Haque Pannu in Tekpara area, Sajib Pal and Shimul Pal Sabur on khas land in Ghonarpara area were demolished. They were instructed to build the installation with their approval.

Cox's Bazar Development Authority Secretary (Deputy Secretary) and Executive Magistrate Abu Jafar Rashed, who led the operation said,  Chairman Lt Col (retd) Forkan Ahmed wanted Cox's Bazar to be a planned city. This eviction will continue in areas where unplanned and unauthorized construction is underway. The Cox's Bazar Development Authority said that as the operation was stopped due to the Corona epidemic, it would continue on a regular basis from now on.

At least 300 unauthorized buildings have been erected in Cox's Bazar. The authories are conducting the operation because  the   dwellers  may at any time  be in the grip of accidents caused  natural disaster.
