A day-long livestock seminar and poultry show titled “Safe Food Needed for Healthy Nation” was at Rajshahi University on Saturday. Bangladesh Livestock Society arranged the event.
Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, State Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, inaugurated the seminar at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of the university.
In his speech, Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru said that a chemical named NBM is being used now to make the animal food that is so harmful for health than antibiotics. Although many countries of Europe have prohibited the chemical to make the animal food, some of countries are still using this. Like those countries, some of unscrupulous traders are importing the harmful food from the foreign countries at low prices which is served for fish and poultry-chicken as food. We are eating those fish and poultry-chicken that is harmed our bodies severely.
Besides, he also urged the entrepreneurs of Rajshahi to increase sheep rearing and to build the hair industry.
Khulna Agriculture University vice chancellor Profess Dr M Shohidur Rahman Khan, RU pro vice chancellor Professor Choudhry M Zakaria, director general of livestock, Dhaka Abdul Jabbar Shikdar and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute director general agriculturist Dr Nathuram Shikdar were present on the occasion as special guests respectively.
RU vice chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan has patronized the event. About 15 people were awarded the livestock honors on the occasion in 4 categories.
