Call for providing legal aid to the poor

The monthly meeting of District Legal Aid Committee was held in Gopalganj. 

Organized by the Gopalganj District Legal Aid Committee, the meeting was held in the conference room of the District and Sessions Judge's Court Building on Sunday. Chairman of the Legal Aid Committee, Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hasan, presided over the meeting.

District Legal Aid Officer (Assistant Judge) Mohammad Safiqul Islam conducted the meeting.  Gopalganj District Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal Judge (District and Sessions Judge) Md Haider Ali Khandkar, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Farhana Jahan Upma, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Feroz Mamun, President of Gopalganj District Lawyers’ Association Adv MM Nasir Ahmed, Government Counsel (GP) Adv Delwar Hossain Sardar, Public Prosecutor of Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal. Ranjit Kumar Barai Gama spoke in the programme

Among others,  Medical Officer of District Civil Surgeon Office Dr Dibakar Biswas, Jail Superintendent Al Mamun, Assistant Director of District Islami Foundation Mas-u-Dul Haque, District Child Affairs Officer Md Shariful Islam, Representative of Acting Deputy Director of District Women Affairs Directorate Md Ridwanur Rahman Sohag, Press Club Gopalganj Organizational Secretary KM Saifur Rahman, Religious Affairs Secretary M Mahmudur Rahman Mahmud and other members of the District Legal Assistance Committee were present there.

District Legal Assistance Committee Chairman, Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hasan expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and said that Sheikh Hasina, the leader of the government of the previous government, was the leader of the society apart from the rich, the poor and the helpless. 

Aiming to ensure that people of all classes and professions get justice, he has ensured the operation of legal aid programs to conduct cases nationwide free of charge at government expense. From the position we are in, let us fully support the helpless and poor justice candidates of the society to get justice. And in this way justice and good governance will be established in the country. And in this way, it will be possible to build the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream.

Leaflets and stickers were distributed by the District Legal Aid Committee among the members of the committee for a wide campaign to convey the issue of providing free legal aid at government expense to people of all classes and professions in the district.
