As reported by this daily on Friday, the high command of the ruling Awami League has started evaluating the last two years’ performance of the cabinet members after forming the government for a record third straight term.

Also, the premier is examining her cabinet members’ contribution to their respective ministries and constituencies and checking up whether her cabinet members were involved in any corruption or wrongdoing while performing their duties.

The cabinet started with the aspirations and expectations of fulfilling the pledges given in the Awami League election manifesto on January 7, 2019,

It needs no emphasising that a competent cabinet helped the premier fulfil the promises given to the people but also it helped her to translate her words into action with greater determination.

Despite facing numerous obstacles, the

government has been successful

in translating words into action

In the past two years, the government's efforts towards fulfilling its election manifest have so far been successful to sow the seeds of optimism amidst general people about pushing the country one-step ahead in the global development index.

The government took tougher actions against all corrupt elements irrespective of political identity in the last years. However, we still have a lot to learn from the past to fight corruption effectively. In order to ensure a more fair and trustworthy government, our politicians must act more ethically.

We cannot rebut that the government is strongly determined to establish good governance and a graft-free administration, which will in turn ensure development and justice in society. In order to fulfil this mission, authorities concerned should keep a vigilant eye on the wrongdoers and root out corruption from every corner of society.

Despite facing numerous obstacles, the government has been successful in translating words into action. With renewed hopes and vigour, we now look forward to even a better year under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
