The Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Kishoreganj has called on the authorities of Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and requested them to take necessary measures in order to withdraw the double bus fare and bring it back to its former position in COVID-19.

CAB, Kishoreganj District President Alam Sarowar Tito, its General Secretary Monoar Hossain Rony, Executive Vice-president Advocate Maya Bhowhmic, Vice-President  Bilkish Begum made the demand in a statement.

In a statement, CAB said that the bus owners and workers never collect the fare at the rate fixed by the government. They take the passengers hostage and collect double or triple the fare.

There, law enforcement and BRTA have not been able to take any effective action against them till date.

This scene becomes more evident in Eid and Puja because of the  lack of income of the  jobless men and their  mentally distressed condition due to long period of lockdown. This needs to be stopped immediately.
