A day-long orientation was held for the workers of Unnayan Sangha to formulate business development plans under the socio-economic development project of disadvantaged sections of the society. Orientation was inaugurated by the Executive Director of the Development Association Rafiqul Alam Mollah. Jahangir Selim, Director, Human Resource Development of the organization presided over the function. Under the social development project, 250 transgender people have been initially selected in Jamalpur as the beneficiaries of the project. Apart from hiring 4 staff, focal persons and accountants have been appointed for the implementation of the project. According to the authority, the plan will be formulated by identifying the current sources of income and employment opportunities of the transgender people. Through this project employment will be created by ensuring efficient demand assessment through their training. Thoughts have been given to provide jobs and other benefits to them according to their educational qualifications, including easy disbursement of loans.
The dignity and human rights of transgender people will be protected by integrating them into the mainstream of development, including providing them with housing facilities, reuniting them with their families, ensuring government allowances, and increasing their participation in various social, religious and cultural activities.
