Bus driver fined for taking extra passengers

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, public transport was allowed to operate in compliance with hygiene rules, however an intercity bus driver in Thakurgaon was fined for carrying extra passengers on public transport.

Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al-Mamun sentenced him for taking extra passengers on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver was fined by a mobile court for carrying more passengers in an inter-district transport at Satyapir Bridge in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. The bus driver Mahananda (36) was fined Tk 2,000.

Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al-Mamun said that on the basis of secret information, we knew that a vehicle named Basak, which had left Dinajpur, was going to Panchagarh. The bus driver has been fined for carrying more people than the allotted seats in the bus.
