BUP arranges seminar on drug abuse

A seminar was organized by Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking Prevention Committee, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) on Tuesday at Bijoy Auditorium, BUP.

The title of the seminar was ‘Drug Abuse in Bangladesh & Its Way Out’. Vice Chancellor (VC), BUP, Major General Emdad-Ul-Bari, was present as the chief guest of the seminar. Director General, Narcotics Control Department Md Jamal Uddin Ahmed, was the distinguished keynote speaker. Pro VC, BUP, Professor Dr M Abul Kashem Majumder and President of MANAS and Member, National Drug Control Advisory Board Professor Dr Arup Ratan Choudhury, were present as special guests. Brigadier General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Medical Studies and Chairman, Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking Prevention Committee was the moderator of the seminar. Besides distinguished guest Treasurer, Registrar, Deans of faculties, senior officers, faculty members and student attended the seminar.

The keynote speaker and special guests discussed the extract of drug abuse in Bangladesh and about the actions that are being taken by the Government. They also explained about the bad effect of drug abuse, its implication and its way out. In the end, the chief guest explained about zero tolerance about drug abuse in BUP and cautioned the students and asked them to stay away from drugs.
