BUP announces Tk 128cr budget for FY 2021-22

The 13th annual senate meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on Sunday atit’s Bijoy Auditorium. 

This year, senate members participated in the meeting both physically and virtually maintaining social distance and appropriate health hygiene. 

Senate Chairman and VC Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman presided over the meeting.  He presented a speech on various academic, administrative, and ongoing development activities of the university amid the global pandemic.

BUP Treasurer Air Cdre Muhammad Belal, GD(P) presented a revised budget of Tk 107.90 crore for the fiscal year 2020-2021 and a budget of Tk 128.33 crore for the fiscal year 2021-2022. 

Air Commodore MdReadad Hossain, BUP, Chief of Public Relation, Information & Publications (PRI&P) presented the 13th Annual Report of BUP. Apart from approving the 2020-2021 revised budget, the senate members also approved the budget for 2021-2022 fiscal year amounting Tk. 128.33 crore and the 13th Annual Report of BUP. 

Registrar of the BUP Brigadier General Abdullah Al Mamun moderated the meeting as Member Secretary.  

At the beginning of his speech, Vice Chancellor paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of our independence and the father of nation. He also wished peace and forgiveness to the souls of all the renowned academics, scientists, poets, writers, journalists, intellectuals, politicians and those who lost their loved ones due to covid-19. 

The Vice-Chancellor said that even though the classrooms are closed due to the global pandemic, the university had been arranging online classes since the beginning of this lockdown precisely. To speed up the online class, we have provided various benefits to the students such as cash payment, free laptop, tuition fee waiver etc. He further said though BUP is young in age, but our students are reflecting the sign of talent continuously in various national and international and upholding the reputation of this university.

VC of the BUP emphasized that the purchase of books, journals and documents, provision of scholarships for students, review of curriculum, grants of computer items and books, research expenditure, publication of books and participation in academic exchange programmes with foreign universities got special priority in this budget.

Among the senate members Mostafizur Rahman, MP,  former ministers Lt. Col. Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd.), MP, Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam, BirUttam, MP, Secretaries from different ministries, high officials from Bangladesh Armed Forces, high officials of BUP and BUP Pro-VC Prof. M AbulKashemMozumder, were present in the meeting.
