Bumper mango production expected in Chuadanga

A vast tract of land has been brought under mango cultivation in four upazilas of Chuadanga district this season.  Farmers expected huge production of mangos because of favourable climate and weather.  A total of 1950 hectares of land have been taken under mango cultivation in four upazilas of the district this year. 

It is learnt that farmers and mango growers expected a bumper production of mango. This year is a year of mangos. The mango trees have already bloomed for bearing mangoes.   According to District Agriculture Extension Office 885 hectares of land has been used for  mango cultivation in sadar upazila, 345 hectares in Alamdanga upazila, 320 hectares in Damurhuda and 400 hectares in Jibannagar upazila. 

Akbar Ali Malita, a grower of mango from Dingadah in sadar upazila said he has mangoes on ten bighas of land, sufficient flowers have bloomed on the trees this year and a  huge production of mango is expected. The mango varieties are negra, bombai, amrupali, himsagar and fazli. All these varieties are very sweet, high demanding in the areas and other parts of the country. 

Sirajul Islam Mollik of village Monoharpur in Jibannagar upazila said we use pesticide before bloom of flowers. Frequently we irrigate in the field of mango. 

Mohammad Ali Hasan, Deputy Director of District Agriculture Extension Department said educated people are eager to cultivate mango in the district. This department is always staying alongside them.  Sayeed Rabbi, sub assistant agriculture officer said land of Chuadanga is fit for cultivation of mango.
