Bullet-hit ex UP member dies

Former Union Parishad member U Cha Thowai Marma, 60, who was shot by miscreants at Bandarban a week ago, died on Saturday morning at his own house, said Rajbila UP chairman Kya Aung Poru. 

Relatives of the man brought him back to home after treatment at the Chattogram Medical College Hospital a few days back. 

Resident Medical Officer of Bandarban Sadar Hospital Protyush Paul Tripura said the man was shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, as his condition was critical. 

The man was shot on February 22, at Jamchharimukh Para area in Bandarban. Local AL leader Bachnu Marma, 60, was shot dead at the time while some others including U Cha Thowai Marma received bullet injuries. Being panicked by the gun attack, another man who witnessed the incident died of cardiac arrest. Later, the injured men were rescued and taken to Bandarban Sadar Hospital by locals. 

Bandarban Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said they are trying to arrest the responsible persons in connection to the incident. 

However, Police was unable to detain anyone regarding the case till now.
