The authorities of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) decided to enroll students to the university following its existing admission test directives like previous years. The decision was made at an academic council meeting on Wednesday night, BUET Student Welfare and Academic Council Member Professor Mizanur Rahman confirmed this.

Mizanur said it was decided that the BUET authority will enroll students through the existing admission tests system like the previous years. Replying to a query, he said, “We are not against uniform admission system but we will admit students according to our existing rules. BUET is an autonomous higher educational institution. It has own system to enroll the students”.

Earlier on February 13, UGC decided to hold a uniform admission test for all public universities from the next academic year of 2020-2021 to reduce sufferings of students and their guardians. BUET already took their decision. Dhaka University will hold its academic council meeting on Monday regarding the matter. It is expected that the decision on this issue will come on the day.
