BUET and WetSkills organize skill development workshop

WetSkills Foundation and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as well as the Urbanizing Deltas of the world programme – CORE Bangladesh project organized skill development workshop and challenge for the first time in Bangladesh in close cooperation with CORE Bangladesh project partners BUET, IHE Delft and HKV consultants and some SMEs.

In this water related skill development workshop and challenge, 4 international students from Surinam, Taiwan and Netherlands and 15 Bangladeshi students participated under supervision of 2 supervisors, Ioana Dobrescu from Romania and Nynke Schap from Netherlands.

This workshop and challenge was organized in two different site Sirajganj and Dhaka from 30 June to 12 July where the participants studied the case in the field and solved the cases. Along with the field study a poster presentation, a pitch presentation and a technical report was presented by each group by which the jury board awarded one case winner.

Ashik Iqbal, AK Azad, Tashfiq Ahmed from BUET, Bangladesh and Saskia van Otterloo from Leiden University and Sydney University, Netherlands won the case competition solving the issues about Flood Proofing Sanitation.

The final closing and award giving ceremony of WetSkills Bangladesh 2019 was held on Thursday at DCE Seminer Room, BUET. Peter de Vries, councilor of Dutch Embassy was present as the chief guest. Among others, Dr Sujit Kumar Bala, director and professor, IWFM, BUET, Dr Muhammad Shah Alam Khan, professor, IWFM, BUET, Dr Sara Nawrin, assistant professor, IWFM, BUET, Farhana Ahmed, senior specialist, CEGIS were also present as jury members and handed the prize to the winner.
