Vice-Chancellor of Barishal University (BU) Prof. Dr. Md. Sadequl Arefin protesting the armed attack on BU students on Wednesday. He says it was a brutal attack and they will take action against those involved in this heinous act.
He said this while speaking to reporters at noon on Wednesday while the students were protesting in front of the campus in protest of the attack. He also assured that the university family would bear the expenses of treatment of the injured students in the incident.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Sadequl Arefin said, “We sat down with representatives of the agitated students. I heard what they wanted to say. They have made three demands to us - swift arrest of those involved, ensuring the safety of the students and prosecuting those involved from the university and we have reassured the students about these issues”.
He added, “I will inform them of our decision after discussion. In the meantime, we have called on the students to leave the blocked road. Let them come, sit and talk with us again. We want to hear more from them”.
Demanding justice for those involved in the attack, the vice-chancellor said, “We want justice for the heinous attack on our students. We need to ensure the safety of these students. I will bear the medical expenses of the students who were injured in the attack”.
