BTCL pays Tk 13.70cr to BTRC

Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) has paid Tk 13.70 crore to the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for IGW revenue sharing after deducting income tax. 

The cheque was handed over in the presence of BTRC and BTCL senior officials in the office room of BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder on Sunday.

According to the government’s audit department for the period 2016-17 to 2019-20, BTCL has Tk 529.40 crore in arrears of revenue sharing as IGW operator till June 2020 to BTRC. 

The money has been paid as part of the collection of arrears for IGW revenue. In addition, in the light of BTCL’s application, the BTRC and BTCL’s concerned senior officers will determine the final arrears of claim for the said audit objection.

Chairman of BTRC Shyam Sundar Sikder, Vice-Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra, Managing Director of BTCL Dr. Md. Rafiqul Matin, Director General of BTRC Finance, Accounts and Revenue Md. Mesbahuzzaman   and others were present.
