There have been regular lawsuits against the two bakeries for making various food items including bread, biscuits and cakes in an unhealthy environment without a license from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution.
A case was filed against Light Bakery at the Bakalia Shantinagar Perak Factory intersection in the city and Bangladesh Suites in West Bakalia on Tuesday afternoon.
BSTI field officers Md Ashiquzzaman and Shimu Biswas filed the case after a field visit.
According to sources, the light bakery has a showroom at the Shahi Jame Mosque Market in Anderkilla. The two bakeries have been instructed to close their factories until approval is obtained.
