Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) will reduce the number of seats in the admission test and abolish the VC quota to increase the quality of education.

Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr AQM Mahbub said that they are working to ensure quality education.

He made the statement in a Facebook live programme titles “BSMRSTUJA Talk” organizsd by the BSMRSTU Journalists' Association on Sunday night (October 4).

Prof Dr AQM Mahbub said, “The number of seats in the admission test will be reduced to increase the quality of education.”

He also opined about VC quota at this time and said, “I have heard that there is a quota called VC quota. This quota will be abolished to ensure transparency in admission. However, the purpose of the university is overall development of the concern area.  For this purpose, 30% seats can be reserved for the students of greater Faridpur.”

He also mentioned that the overall problems of the university were created due to unplanned increase of the number of departments and seats by the former vice-chancellor Khondokar Nasiruddin.

Mentionable, at present about 12 thousand students are studying under 34 departments in BSMRSTU.  Every year more than 3000 students get chance for admission in the university.
