Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan, project director (PD) of ‘Further Development of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Gopalgonj’ resigned from his post on Wednesday after an audit team found irregularities in the project.
BSMRSTU Registrar Md Abdur Rauf confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.
When contacted, Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan declined to comment.
Recently, a team of Education, Culture and Religious Affairs Audit directorate unearthed irregularities in conducting transection worth Tk 28.35 crore.
According to university sources, Ashiquzzaman gave the money to Khulna Shipyard.
He also transferred another Tk 1.44 crore from the project account to a new bank account violating the rules.
