BSF yet to return body of cattle trader Ariful

The border security force (BSF) in Indian did not return the bullet hit body of Bangladeshi cattle trader even after three days of gunning him down. The deceased was Ariful Islam, 28, son of late Afijuddin of village Shyamkur in bordering Moheshpur police station in Jhenaidah.

Local and BGB sources said Ariful Islam, Mominur and five to six others had entered in to Indian Territory through Laraighat border outpost in the night of Tuesday. When all the Bangladeshi nationals were coming back to Bangladesh, the BSF personnel of Pakhiura camp near Omarpur had opened fire targeting the Bangladesh people. Ariful Islam and another Bangladeshi cattle trader sustained bullet injury. 

Ariful Islam succumbs to his bullet injuries on the spot, while another managed to flee. Later the bordering village people witnessed the body of Ariful Islam in the field.

Bordering Shyamkur union parishad (UP) chairman Jamirul Haque when contacted said he was informed that Ariful Islam was gunned down at Pakhiura camp area in the morning of Wednesday while he along with other Bangladeshi cattle traders were returning with cattle heads. Locals had witnessed the bullet hit body at Pakhiura camp area till Wednesday noon. 

BGB 58 camp commander Lieutenant Colonel Masud Parzez Rana when contacted said they sat for a battalion commander level flag meeting with their Indian counterpart BSF on Wednesday afternoon. But the BSF had told then that the BSF had handed over the body to Indian police. He was not sure it was the body of Ariful Islam or not. He said now the matter is being exercised in the top-level authorities of BGB and BSF from where the decision might come for the next course of action.
