After 14 days of killing, the Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the body of Bablu Mia, 24, resident of Kaliganj village under Dimla upazila in Nilphamari, on Tuesday near Patgram border line of Lalmonirhat district.

Officer-in-Charge of Dimla police station Mofizuddin Sheikh received the body and later handed over to his father Nur Mohammad. Later, he was buried at a local graveyard around 10:00am on Wednesday morning.

On September 3, Bablu was killed and another Bangladeshi, Saiful Islam, injured as BSF fired gunshots while the two were collecting grass for their cattle near the border.

However, BSF claimed that the two were cattle smugglers and BSF opened fire on them while they were transporting cattle on the Indian Territory.

Locals of Kaliganj and surrounded villages formed human chain and urged higher authorities to arrange return of the body and the injured boy.

Regarding this, on behalf of 51 battalion of BGB, a letter was sent to their counterpart of 45 battalion of BSF on Tuesday.

In this connection, BSF returned the body on Tuesday night, 14 days after the killing.

Injured Saiful is still being detained by the BSF. His father Goljar urged to return his son.
