Eleven Bangladeshi nationals—men, women, and children—were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) by India's Border Security Force (BSF) during a flag meeting held near the Benipur border in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila. The meeting took place late Wednesday night near pillar 61/7-S.
The individuals returned include Mithun Mondal (44), his wife and three daughters from Munshiganj, a family of three from Magura, and five others from Dhaka and Satkhira. According to a BGB press release, the group had entered India illegally and worked in Mumbai as domestic helpers and labourers. They were detained by BSF personnel from the Nonaganj Camp in West Bengal’s Nadia district as they attempted to return to Bangladesh.
BSF officials informed BGB of the detainees' identities and arranged the repatriation following standard procedures. At 11:40 PM on Wednesday, the BSF handed over the group to BGB’s Benipur Company Commander, Nayeb Subedar Md Obaidullah.
Later, BGB transferred the individuals to Jibannagar Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Mamun Hossain Biswas confirmed the handover and said further legal action is being taken in accordance with immigration protocols.
