A Bangladeshi national has reportedly been detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from the Benipur border area in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga.

The incident took place around 11:00am on Wednesday, when members of the BSF from the Nonaganj Camp apprehended Badar Uddin (26), a resident of School Para in Benipur village. He is the son of Abdul Karim.

According to local residents, Badar Uddin was allegedly involved in smuggling 5–6 people across the border illegally through a field known as “Disput Maath.” BSF personnel from the Nonaganj Camp reportedly chased the group. While the others managed to escape, Badar Uddin was caught and taken to the BSF camp.

Rabiul Hossain, a former Union Parishad member from Benipur, confirmed that the BSF had taken a Bangladeshi citizen from the area at around 11:00am on Wednesday.

When contacted, Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Alam (PSC), Commanding Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-58 in Maheshpur, said they had received unconfirmed reports of the incident and were trying to establish contact with the BSF for clarification and further action.
