BRTA’s drive in Ctg: Tk 85,500 fine realised

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) fined Tk 85,500 during drives on 3 highways of Chattogram against unfit vehicles and unlicensed drivers on Thursday.

A total of 26 cases have been registered against 26 vehicles on various charges including not having a license, driving a vehicle without registration, riding motorcycle without helmet in 3 separate raids in Chattogram.  

In addition, the mobile court of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) imposed a fine of Tk 85,500 and dumping of two vehicles.

These raids were conducted in Rangunia area of Chittagong-Kaptai regional highway, Patiya bypass of Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway and Faujdarhat area of Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the afternoon.

According to BRTA sources, Rangunia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Marjan Hossain led the drive in Rangunia.  Chatta Metro-1 Circle Motor Vehicle Inspector Md Alauddin fined Taka 5 thousand 500 on 9 vehicles.  Patiya Upazila Executive Officer Md Alauddin Bhuiyan Joni led the operation in Patiya Bypass.  Chatta Metro-1 circle motor vehicle inspector Md. Fahad Shikder fined the owners of two vehicles Tk 20,000 for not having fitness of their vehicles.  He also ordered to dump two unfit human haulers (Lagunas).  Mishkatul Tamanna, Executive Magistrate of Mobile Court-12 of BRTA Chattogram Division, led the operation in Faujdarhat area.  Chattogram Divisional Office Motor Vehicle Inspector Tirtha Pratim Barua was present at the time.  The owners of 15 vehicles were fined Taka 60,000.

The district police and highway police took part in the operation.
